Primary School

At BISC Kraków Primary we strive to provide a safe, friendly, supportive and caring environment to maximise our students’ learning potential.  Through our truly international make-up we offer a unique learning experience in the very heart of Krakow. We believe in each student as an individual and aim to meet their needs and develop the whole person, socially as well as educationally. Our small class sizes (16 pupils maximum) allows a greater focus on each individual by the class teacher and learning support assistants.

The Curriculum

At BISC Kraków we use the National Curriculum in England 2013 as our framework for teaching. As a British school we believe it is important to make sure we keep up to date on key developments in Britain, however we aim to make the curriculum accessible to our wider international community. We place emphasis on the English language and endeavour to make sure all our students become proficient in the language, through extra support and lessons, as well as using Jolly Phonics and Letters and Sounds work to ensure the children are working to their potential. In Mathematics we follow the curriculum through the Abacus Mathematics programme ‘a unique maths toolkit that’s carefully crafted to help inspire a genuine love of maths and help every child master the national curriculum.’

Classes are taught through a combination of whole-class teaching and group-work, and planned according to the level of the individual. Science, History, Geography and Design & Technology are largely topic-based. Whenever possible, classes are taken out on local field trips so that practical observation and first-hand experience can be incorporated into the programme and their learning experience. Art, Music, Foreign Languages, Computing and Physical Education (including swimming) are taught by subject specialist teachers.

The Primary section of BISC Kraków consists of Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, covering ages 5 to 11.
