Class of 2008

Anna Wierzbowska

Right after I graduated from BISC I received a sport scholarship at the University of Southern California. I moved to Los Angles in August 2008 and I lived and trained there for 4 years. It was an amazing chapter of my life. I’ve met wonderful people, worked different jobs, became a team captain, won multiple races. I received an All-American award(athlete of the year) two times. In 2012 I graduated with a BA in International Relations. I’ve decided to finish my athletic career, I moved to Long Beach and for a year I worked as an account representative at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Well…I missed rowing and racing too much and I decided to move back to Poland to train with the National Team.
Since I came back I worked for half a year as a nursery assistant at BISC, it was a truly rewarding experience, kids were amazing and I wish that I could continue, however it was impossible to train and work at the same time.
Since beginning of 2014 I focused only on training, I beat World Records on ergo-meter on 500m and 1000m and together with my sister this season we won 9 National Championships. Currently we are preparing as a pair for qualifications to Rio 2016 which will take place in September 2015. Keep your fingers crossed

After finishing BISC, I went on to study conceptual design with an anthropological approach at the Glasgow School of Art and Kyoto University of Art and Design.
After finishing university, I’ve been focusing on acquiring a wide range of various experiences and skills, as they inform both me and my research and design practice.
Nowadays (2015), I try to contribute to projects, which have a potential for interesting impact, such as a proposal for an educational tool for Education Scotland, co-development of a holistic self-improvement service or brainstorming growth possibilities for the city of Krakow.
In my free time I like to explore: get outdoors, meet new people, travel, climb and make things.
Happy 20th Anniversary and all the best to the people around BISC!
