Class of 2001

Yurii Fedortsov

I am half of the class of 2001. After BISC, I made a semi-conscious decision to study Marketing and Management at the WSZIB in Kraków. If it wasn’t for the parties I would have probably dropped out at an early stage of the course, as there is no way one could enjoy it sober, but instead I miraculously passed and earned my Bachelor’s degree there. After that, I continued treading in that odd direction, thus went to Krakow’s Academy of Economics (at the time) finished it and completed my education with a Master’s degree in International Trade Relationships. Armed with such knowledge, I hopelessly sought any relative employment, and bummed around Krakow until I’ve landed at a job in MAN Trucks and Buses, where I was supposed to be Junior Sales, but worked as Field Logistics guy / Sales assistant for almost 2 years, which was cool, as I have learned how to drive trucks, from small ones to really huge ones, and got some really good corporate rat work experience. But after the so called “financial crisis” struck, most back office staff was cut short, thus I ended up being unemployed again, and bummed around again for some time, catching various low-paid gigs… until me and the family decided to buy a neighborhood diner place after we found and ad for it on Gumtree. We worked our hearts out, we wanted to serve locals traditional Slavic cuisine, share our passions for natural and healthy food and life, but the public wouldn’t have it… instead we got flipped their way, we started to compromise, play awful pop music and basically hate people, as we worked hard, and every day, and got nothing in return. In the meantime, thanks to a great friend of mine (btw BISC grad!) I was recommended for analytical/consulting job at a business intelligence company, which was the first place that made me feel that I fit into, appreciate my smarts, and gave me a job, I could do without feeling like I was wasting time and life… Consequently, me and the family sold the diner place, with both, relief and little regrets, for some cash and freedom. Now, I am a Business Intelligence Consultant at EMBS Group, I occasionally write kick-ass poetry, and I am pretty much cool with my life. Bless. TIP: Read some Ayn Rand, take psychedelics, and enjoy life with a capital “E”, as you are not going to make it alive anyway
