Queen Elizabeth II 1926-2022

11/9/2022

The passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was received with deep sadness by the BISC Krakow community.
Her Majesty, who devoted her life to serving her peoples in Britain and across the globe for over seventy years, will always be remembered as a Queen of dignity, devotion and greatness.
I was deeply touched by the emotional words spoken by the European Commission President, Mrs Ursula von der Leyen:
“Queen Elizabeth II represents the whole history of Europe that is our common home with our British friends. She has given to all of us in all these years always stability, confidence. She has shown an immense amount of courage. She is a legend in my eyes. My prayers are with her” - she concluded on the verge of tears.
May she rest in peace.

Business vs Smog

2/3/2020

Children in Years 4 & 5 were visited by Ms Melissa Chavez and Ms Eva Malaga as part of the ‘Business vs Smog’ program. ‘Business vs Smog’ is an initiative started by companies in Krakow with the aim of educating children on how to have clean air in Krakow and around Poland. www.smog.edu.pl . The students all seemed to enjoy the talk and activities and they also learned a lot. Here at the British International School of Cracow, we recognise the importance of looking after the environment and the visit helped reinforce our own teachings on environmental issues. ‘Smog’ is a particularly interesting topic as it affects all of us who reside in Krakow and therefore the ‘Business vs Smog’ program is a very worthy one.

On Thursday 13th June the students from Years 5 to Year 10 competed in their track and field day. There was a bit of added competition as we invited some student representatives from our neighbours ISK. There was a great atmosphere as the events took place with the children showing determination and sportsmanship as they cheered on their friends and competition. New friends were made and a great day was enjoyed by all.

On Thursday 6th June, the KS2 Shakespeare Company put on 2 amazing shows for the Primary School, some lucky Year 9 students and then parents and family members. A great script, comedic timing and amazing performances, coupled with a ton of commitment and hard-work meant that both shows were a great success. Congratulations to all of the students who took part we are all very proud of you and what you achieved. Thank you to Mr Jonathan & Ms Beata for making it happen and thanks to the Primary Art department for their work on the props. Also a big thank you to the parents for supporting this project and coming along to see the performance.

A special mention also to Rita (Y3) for designing the winning poster entry.

The Great Dragons Parade 2019

On Sunday 2nd June Ms Jadzia & Ms Marta were joined by teachers, parents and children to enter the Great Dragons Parade 2019 here in Krakow. We met at the starting point and marched up Ul. Grodska to the Rynek to the sound of drums and crowds cheering. The weather was beautiful and although, unfortunately we didn't win, we had a great time representing the school and getting the recognition for the hard work of the Primary art department and our great dragon 'Filterek' deserved.

We even made the news.
